Equality and Diversity
Equality, Diversity and Equity at Rivendell Flying High
At Rivendell, we are proud of our diverse and inclusive school community, where every child is valued, respected, and celebrated.
We are committed to ensuring equity, so that all children—regardless of background, ability, or identity—have the opportunities and support they need to thrive and succeed.
Diversity is at the heart of our school, reflected in our curriculum, assemblies, and daily experiences. Through the teaching of the Protected Characteristics, Fundamental British Values, and an awareness of neurodiversity, we help our children understand, respect, and embrace differences. We have embedded diversity as a curriculum principle, weaving it through all of our enquiries and learning experiences to ensure representation and inclusivity across all subjects.
From learning about inspirational figures from diverse backgrounds to exploring different cultures, traditions, and perspectives, we provide opportunities for children to develop empathy, cultural awareness, and a strong sense of belonging. We celebrate our differences, champion inclusion, and prepare our children to become compassionate, open-minded, and socially responsible citizens, fulfilling our mission as a school.
Valuing our School Community
At Rivendell, we believe that everyone in our school community should feel a true sense of belonging, value, and respect. We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where children, families, and staff feel heard and celebrated. To ensure that we honour and recognise the diverse backgrounds, traditions, and beliefs within our community, we have worked closely with parents and families to create our Events of Importance document. This helps us acknowledge and celebrate key cultural, religious, and personal milestones, strengthening our connections and fostering a school culture where everyone is valued.
The Events of Importance document is updated annually but please do contact school if you there is something that you would like school to celebrate and recognise with your family. You can do this by emailing the office at office@rivendellfha.co.uk or calling the school office.
School Policy
Understanding our school context is essential in ensuring that every child feels included, represented, and supported. At Rivendell, our Equality Policy reflects our commitment to fostering a fair, diverse, and inclusive environment, where all children, staff, and families are valued and treated with respect, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
