Fun Ways to Support Learning
The best way to support learning is by having fun or creating memorable experiences.
We know our short- term memory capacity is limited to 3-5 things; therefore, in order to know and remember more knowledge, we must practise new learning at least 6 times for it be transferred to our long-term memory.
Below are some core subject games your may enjoy playing to practise some of the skills you have been learning in class.
Parents, if you would like more ideas for specific areas of learning or other subjects, please speak to the Year 5/6 team.

Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) – Boosting Maths Skills at Home!
At Rivendell, we use Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) to help children master their times tables in a fun and engaging way! TTRS is an online programme that turns times tables practice into an exciting rock-and-roll adventure, where children can earn coins, unlock new avatars, and challenge themselves to improve their speed and accuracy.
How Does TTRS Help at Home?
✅ Builds Confidence – Regular practice helps children recall multiplication facts quickly.
✅ Makes Learning Fun – The game-like format keeps children motivated.
✅ Tracks Progress – Parents can see how their child is improving over time.
✅ Prepares for Tests – Quick recall of times tables supports maths learning in school.
Encourage your child to log in and play for a few minutes each day to see great improvements in their maths fluency!
